There is a huge learning curve with my blog. I went to sign in via Google and couldn't find it. I thought to myself : "this isn't good". Finally, I found it. Now, I'm wondering who can see this blog? I think I have marked it private, but then again, I'm not really sure.
What is on my mind? The Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off today. I remember being in the 6th grade when the first one took off. I remember when the Challenger exploded on that cold winter day. I was in the 11th grade then. School had been cancelled that day because of frozen pipes. I was watching tv when they broke in to say the Challenger had exploded. I was in Dr. Moore's history class in college when we watched the space shuttle take off after a hiatus post Challenger. The Columbia College girls went to Florida for spring break in 1989 and saw it take off. It was really cool to watch. Everyone stopped what they were doing (including I-95) and just watched the sky. And, I remember in The Columbia exploded on re-entry in the early 2000's. We were going to the zoo that day. We made the family vacay to Cape Canaveral a few years ago. The shuttle was on the launch pad and you could only get within 2 miles of it. I enjoyed visiting Cape Canaveral, especially the memorial.
Today ends an era of space travel. It is hard to believe 30 years have "flown" by.
